Van’s Kitchen Celebrates Lunar New Year With Promotions And Activities

Last updated on February 18th, 2022 at 10:01 am

Dallas, Texas-based Van’s Kitchen, an egg roll manufacturing brand, will celebrate the Lunar New Year by promoting education, diversity and inclusion. The annual holiday is celebrated from Feb. 1-15 and marks the Year of the Tiger, a symbol of ambition, courage, enthusiasm and adventure.

In 1986, Vietnamese immigrants and founders Van and Kim Nguyen built Van’s Kitchen from the ground up, creating an environment where other immigrants and minorities could work and develop their skills.

By creating their business from nothing and providing other underdogs opportunities, their dream continues to grow into one of the biggest egg roll brands in the nation. Van and Kim Nguyen’s legacy lives on through their daughter and Van’s Kitchen’s second-generation CEO, Theresa Motter.

“My parents came to this country not only with a dream to be business owners, but to honor and celebrate Asian culture day in and day out, and provide opportunities for other immigrants and minorities like themselves,” Motter said. “Lunar New Year is always a special holiday in our culture, but it means so much to us that we get to share a little piece of our culture with others.”

To help both retailers and consumers raise awareness of and participate in Lunar New Year, Van’s Kitchen will offer month-long promotional opportunities and activities. Materials for grocery and convenience store retailers include window clings, roller grill tags, decals and editable theme artwork.

Additionally, consumers can access activities that embody the characteristics of a tiger, including a word puzzle for mental strength and an online daily journal for emotional strength. Van’s Kitchen has also published Zodiac predictions for the Year of the Tiger based on birth years.

“We hope all of our customers and retailers celebrate Lunar New Year collaboratively and knowledgeably with us,” said Motter. “Lunar New Year is celebrated by over 1.5 billion people worldwide. The United States is a melting pot of people from all walks of life, and it is exciting to share our Asian culture with those who want to learn more about it and also work in an environment that thrives on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.”

Van’s Kitchen has built a workplace that comprises three different cultural groups – European, Latinx and Asian, and three languages are spoken within the company; English, Spanish and Vietnamese. Employees are encouraged to embrace their own culture while also respecting and engaging with people different from them.
