Food City Offering Free Bowl Of Menudo On New Year’s Day

menudo

To acknowledge January as National Menudo Month and Jan. 1 as National Hangover Day, and to mark the fresh start of a new year, Food City grocery stores will offer a free small bowl of menudo to all dine-in customers, between 9-11 a.m. on Jan. 1 at the deli department.

Menudo is known to be a popular hangover remedy, as many people believe that it alleviates the symptoms of the malady.

Menudo is a rich, spicy soup that’s traditionally prepared by the entire family. Menudo gets its flavor from lime, onions, cilantro, oregano and red peppers. A bowl of menudo is typically eaten with tortillas or other breads.

The offer is available at 35 Food City stores with deli departments in Arizona.

With a more than-60-year reputation of service to the Hispanic community in Arizona, Food City carries aisles of traditional Mexican foods along with items found in a traditional grocery store.

Food City also reaches out to the community by hiring people from the neighborhoods it serves. The community-focused grocery store is known for holding car seat and water safety events, mobile dental clinics, back-to-school immunizations, backpack giveaways and cultural celebrations.
