Muffin Town Now Offering Its Cornbread In Half-Sheet Size

Muffin Town cornbread

Muffin Town has added a new half-sheet size of cornbread to its portfolio of bakery products.

Each 4-lb. sheet comes pre-scored for custom cutting into 30 squares, creating the appearance of a freshly baked and hand-sliced cornbread serving. The cornbread is prebaked, frozen, and ready to thaw and serve.

The Muffin Town line of authentic and jalapeno cornbread also includes full-sheet size, Snack’N Loaves, 15-oz. pans and a variety of cornbread muffins.

The product line is made by J.S.B. Industries in Chelsea, Massachusetts. It operates peanut- and tree nut-free kosher facilities, manufacturing bakery products under the Muffin Town, Smart Choice, Aesops Bagels, SunWise Peanut Free and Madeline’s Gourmet Cookie brands. The brands are available to foodservice accounts and retailers nationwide, including convenience stores, supermarkets, club stores, entertainment venues, schools, healthcare facilities, caterers and the travel industry.

Today, the company’s product lines include muffins, bagels, bagel stuffers, Snack’N Loaves and frozen ready-to-bake cookies. Private label is available.

Muffin Town’s origins

Muffin Town was founded in 1978 as a bakery commissary to supply foodservice accounts such as schools and healthcare, with a consistent, quality baked product. Word of mouth led to growth.

“Business found us. People loved what we make,” said Jack Anderson, company president, founder and CEO. “Selling was easy.”

Soon after, small neighborhood bakeries were closing as customers started to look to supermarkets for their baked goods. By offering frozen baked goods that maintained their freshness, Muffin Town sales continued to increase. In 2000, J.S.B. established a 100,000-s.f. facility in Chelsea, Massachusetts.  Aesops Bagels was purchased in 2001.

The addition of new brand names prompted the corporate name change from Muffin Town to J.S.B. Industries, which has evolved into a national baking manufacturing company that calls itself “America’s Premium Value Bakery.”

In 2006 J.S.B. Industries added a new division, Madeline’s Cookies. This company was created in response to customer request for a frozen, ready-to-bake gourmet cookie dough that tasted good and was cost efficient.

For schools, J.S.B. developed the Smart Choice line of whole grain baked goods.

To meet growing demand, a second high-tech facility was opened in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Both plants offer bulk packs/ trays, clamshells, or individually wrapped thaw-and-serve products in a wide variety of size/weight configurations.
