The board of directors of the American Grassfed Association (AGA) in Denver, Colorado, has named Don Davis president of its board of directors.

Davis currently ranches in the Texas Hill Country with his wife, Debbie, where they raise Texas Longhorn cattle and market AGA Certified Grassfed Texas Longhorn beef under the label Bandera Grassland. He is past president of the Cattlemen’s Texas Longhorn Registry (CTLR), a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving genetically pure and historically correct Texas Longhorn cattle and is currently a director emeritus with the organization.

Davis and his wife also own and operate Grassfed Livestock Alliance (GLA), an alliance of AGA certified grassfed producers. The GLA was formed in 2006 to provide a fair and sustainable market for family farms and ranches that put care, labor and reputation into the quality of meats raised. The GLA currently supplies local AGA-certified grassfed beef to Whole Foods Market locations in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Davis has been a director for the AGA since 2005 and currently chairs the AGA’s standards committee.

In addition, Davis and his wife are also part owners of the Grassfed Sustainability Group (GSG), the Savory International Hub in Texas, which teaches holistic management and regenerative land practices to landowners, managers and producers throughout the Southwest.

The American Grassfed Association is located at 469 South Cherry Street, Suite 220, Denver, Colorado. Grassfed producers began meeting in early 2003 with partial funding from the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Cooperative Development Center in Denver, Colorado. Later, the AGA was awarded a $25,000 U.S. Department of Agriculture Business Development Grant to promote the association with producers, professionals and consumers.
