Hannaford was forced to reroute items from various distribution centers following an April 26 warehouse fire at its facility in South Portland, Maine. As a result, there were some delays in the delivery of fresh items to some stores.

Eric Bloom, Hannaford spokesperson, says the delivery delays led to some low-inventory conditions temporarily on certain products at individual stores. Product deliveries were rerouted through Hannaford’s Schodack, New York, distribution center to replenish stores.

The fire occurred in a refrigerated trailer that was backed up to a loading bay and spread to a portion of the warehouse before being extinguished. No one was injured in the blaze.

Most of the South Portland warehouse was not damaged in the fire and is in operation. Bloom said Hannaford is working to bring the remainder of the facility back to full service.
