In the U.S. alone, nearly 40 percent of the food supply is wasted—that’s enough to fill a 90,000-seat Rose Bowl stadium every day.

While beef is one of the least wasted commodities, if its waste was cut in half, full supply-chain sustainability would increase by 10 percent. That’s why the Beef Checkoff has introduced “The 30-Day Food Waste Challenge” and is asking everyone to join in the fight by implementing minor day-to-day changes and sharing ideas.

The challenge coincides with Zero Waste Week, the annual awareness campaign for reducing landfill. This year’s campaign, held earlier this month, focused on reducing food waste. The Beef Checkoff’s 30-day challenge, however, can be started any time. Go here to participate in the challenge and to find tools to help in the journey.
