Gordy’s Market held its 12th annual Feed My People live charity auction earlier this month, with all proceeds from the event going to the Feed My People Food Bank of Wisconsin.

Feed My People is the only food bank in West Central Wisconsin, providing food to more than 125 hunger-relief organizations in 14 different counties. In total, Gordy’s raised more than $62,000 for the food bank and the communities that the 26-store grocery chain serves.new-gordys

Gordy’s “Meat Guy,” Mike Vavra, also contributed to cause by embarking on a 100-mile ultra-marathon. Vavra began his run at Gordy’s Market in Rice Lake and completed his adventure during the auction that was held at the Gordy’s store in Eau Claire on Hamilton Avenue. Vavra contributed more than $1,800 from his run toward the final total raised.

The auction included more than 1,000 items and special guest appearances by former Packers, Gilbert Brown and Tyrone Williams.

The annual auction now has raised more than $487,000 for the Feed My People Food Bank. With every $1 raised, Feed My People is able to provide $10 worth of food, or 6 pounds.
