Renfro Foods introduced its newest Mrs. Renfro’s Gourmet Salsa flavor at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, June 26-28.
Pumpkin, the company’s 19th salsa, features pumpkin pie spices and a medium heat level.
“We’ve been playing with the concept of a holiday-themed item for several years,” says Doug Renfro, president of Fort Worth, Texas-based Renfro Foods. “Then a customer specifically asked us about doing a pumpkin salsa, so we knew it was time.”
“The reception to our new pumpkin salsa was awesome,” Renfro adds. “It was fun watching people nervously dip into it, wondering what pumpkin salsa might taste like, then exclaim ‘that’s good!’ Our favorite two quotes were ‘it tastes like the holidays’ and ‘it’s Thanksgiving on a chip!’”
Packaged in 16-oz. jars, Mrs. Renfro’s Pumpkin Salsa, which is gluten-free, will retail at $3.69, depending on the market.
