The Dover Corp. plans acquire Wayne Fueling Systems Ltd., which is owned by Riverstone Holdings LLC, for $780 million. Dover’s annualized retail fueling revenue will be $1.4 billion when combining Wayne’s product offerings with OPW and Tokheim. Wayne is a global provider of fuel dispensing, payment, systems and aftermarket services for retail and commercial fuel stations. Through its network of distributors and service partners, Wayne’s products are sold and supported in more than 140 countries. Yildiz Holding has brought together its core biscuit, chocolate and confectionery businesses—Godiva Chocolatier, United Biscuits, Ulker and DeMet’s Candy Co.—to form a new global company called pladis. The new entity unites internationally recognized brands Godiva, a premium chocolate brand worldwide; McVitie’s, a biscuit brand with a heritage in the UK and Europe; and Ulker, a biscuits and confectionery brand in Turkey and Middle East. Together they form a $5.2 billion business. Murat Ulker, chairman of Yildiz, said, “Establishing pladis is the first step in realizing the long-term strategy of Yildiz Holding. We are bringing together some of the world’s best loved brands and combining their 350 years of experience to form a new family company. The Washington, D.C., Council approved unanimously the raising of the city’s minimum wage to $15 per hour, and Mayor Muriel Bowser announced she will sign the measure. The increase will occur over four years. Washington, D.C.’s support of the higher minimum wage comes after California and New York agreed agreed to raise their state minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2022. Connecticut, New Jersey and Massachusetts are debating similar moves.
