TravelCenters Of America Closes On Quaker Steak & Lube Purchase, And More…

TravelCenters of America has completed the purchase of certain assets of Quaker Steak & Lube Restaurant for nearly $25 million. The assets purchased include 10 locations that will be operated as Quaker Steak & Lube by the TA Restaurant Group. The acquisition also includes 40 locations operated by franchisees or licensees. Quaker Steak & Lube of Sharon, Pennsylvania, has expanded to 50 locations in 15 states across the U.S. The concept’s unique décor includes gas station memorabilia, classic cars, motorcycles and race cars suspended from the ceilings…

The NPD Group reports that Hispanics continue to grow restaurant visits while the rate of non-Hispanic visits remained flat in 2015. Last year Hispanics made 10.5 billion visits to restaurants and other foodservice outlets, increasing visits by 1 percent over a year ago, according to NPD…

The Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA) and Gray, Gray & Gray LLP will host “Around The Restaurant Industry in 150 minutes” beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at 150 Royal Street in Canton. A variety of restaurant experts will discus trends in the industry, banking, social media, negotiating and renegotiating leases, government regulations as well as recruiting and retaining talent. A cocktail reception will follow. The cost is $39 per person and all proceeds will benefit the MRA Educational Foundation Scholarship Fund.
