Wendy’s Releases Supplier Code Of Conduct, And More…

Wendy’s recently released its Supplier Code of Conduct—taking into account the current best practices and standards of Wendy’s supply chain and also identifying future aspirations to encourage continuous improvement. The code focuses on chief areas important to the Wendy’s brand and its customers, including: food safety and food ingredients, farm animal health and well-being, human rights and labor practices, environmentally sustainable business practices and business ethics and integrity…

Hearth Shares has launched its local fundraising initiative in Boston, modeled after StreetSmart, a similar initiative in London, which has raised more than $10 million since 1998. The mission is to end homelessness by partnering with local restaurants, where patrons will have an opportunity to add $1 to their bill. All of the money raised is then distributed to local homeless charities. Since its inception the program has raised $80,000. All of the proceeds from Hearth Shares will benefit Hearth, Friends of Boston’s Homeless and a select group of other nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Boston community. Boston chefs and restaurateurs Ming Tsai and Jeffrey Gates, along with chefs Chris Douglass, Nookie Postal, Jamie Mammano, Jeffrey Fournier, Nicholas Calias and others, have signed on to support Hearth Shares at their restaurants…

By the end of this year, Taco Bell plans to serve only cage-free eggs at all of its U.S. locations.
