The Independent Oil Marketers of New England (IOMA) and the New England Convenience Store Association (NECSA) will merge Nov 1. to form a new organization: the New England Convenience Store & Energy Marketers Association, or NECSEMA.

According to NECSA Executive Director Steve Ryan, “With particular thanks to NECSA President Leo Vercollone and IOMA Chairman Jon Shaer, the leadership of both of these respected and successful trade associations worked for several years to put this opportunity together and we are confident that NECSEMA will be the premiere fuel and c-store trade association in New England.

“Through this merger, we will achieve the goal of a more influential, participative, wider represented and financially strong organization. We are very proud to announce that Gwen Forman of Cumberland Farms will be the first president of NECSEMA.”

Ryan added that current supplier and associate members of the two organizations will now be part of the largest and most diversified fuel/c-store trade group in the Northeast. From “mom-and-pop” stores to the largest c-store and fuel suppliers in New England, the opportunities for networking, trade show involvement and collaboration with key players will be even greater for those who provide goods and services to the multi-billion dollar industry in New England, he noted.
