The 4th Annual “Let’s Talk About Food Festival” returns to Copley Square in Boston on Saturday, Oct. 3. Author and James Beard award winner Marion Nestle will join Roger Berkowitz, CEO of Legal Seafood, Sheila Bowman of Monterey Bay Aquarium, and chefs Jody Adams and Sara Jenkins for this free event, bringing together more than 20,000 people for an all-day exploration of food.

The festival will bring together celebrity chefs, farmers and fishermen, nutritionists, nonprofits, public officials, parents and food experts to focus on food building blocks, including dairy, meat, seafood, produce and pasta, with a special focus on nutrition, sugar and school food.

In an effort to create an oral history around food, Let’s Talk About Food is bringing back Kitchen Conversations, a storytelling project that asks people to share their personal food stories. Participants will sit at a kitchen table in a pop-up recording booth where they will engage in a conversation with accomplished interviewers, sharing one of many stories that collectively tell the history of food in America and around the world.

Additional activities at the festival will feature a series of signature booths, including Ask-a-Chef, Ask-a-Nutritionist, an Author’s Tent for book signings, the annual Edible Garden, the Endless Table where guests can discuss topics of their choosing around food, and Edible Boston, which will highlight local food artisans and their products. The festival also will will present a first-in-the-nation “Let’s Talk About Cheese” event featuring national and international cheese makers; this ticketed event will showcase cheese and wines from around the world.
