Uber Co-Founder Backs Gasoline Delivery Service, And More…

The National Association of Convenience Stores reports that Los Angeles-based Purple is out to change the way consumers purchase gasoline by delivering fuel to parked vehicles. The startup, backed by Uber co-founder Oscar Salazar, is expanding to San Francisco and introducing overnight delivery. In Los Angeles, Purple charges $3.79 per gallon for octane 87 and $3.99 per gallon for octane 91. So far, the early adopters are mostly customers with luxury vehicles in the more affluent areas of Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and West Hollywood. For Purple to fill a car, users of Purple’s mobile app pick from two options: 10 gallons or 15 gallons; the service may eventually be able to offer a five-gallon option.
