MOM’s Organic Market will host grand opening festivities at its new Woodbridge, Virginia, store this weekend, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 11-13.
Features of the store include 100 percent organic produce; free car charging stations; organic wines, a growler filling station for local, seasonal beers and kombucha; only sustainable seafood (down to the canned tuna); certified organic clothing and mattresses; a recycling drop-off for wine corks, CFL bulbs, eye glasses, plastic bags, household batteries and shoes.
MOM’s does not sell products that use licensed cartoon characters to market to children.
“We will offer the community of Woodbridge a store with great products, great pricing and remarkable service,” says Scott Nash, founder and CEO of Maryland-based MOM’s. “I’m excited to open our first store in Prince William County.”
Grand opening events will include a U.S. Fish and Wildlife seed ball making activity, Accokeek Park worm bin education, a henna artist, organic seed planting with compostable pots and a trash/recycle/compost sorting game for kids; test driving of electric vehicles; goodie bag giveaways, raffles, live music and local vendor tastings.
MOM’s will donate 5 percent of grand opening sales to Keep Prince William Beautiful, an environmental nonprofit that conducts community cleanups and offers educational programs focusing on litter removal, recycling and water quality improvement.
The Woodbridge store is MOM’s fourth Virginia location. The grocer operates more than a dozen stores in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
