The National Grocers Association (NGA) said Tuesday that retired Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal will present the opening keynote address at the 2016 NGA Show, to be held Feb. 28-March 2 in Las Vegas.

McChrystal, a four-star general and former Green Beret, led the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) in Iraq during the Persian Gulf Wars and was top commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan. His leadership of JSOC is credited with the 2003 capture of Saddam Hussein and the 2006 location and killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

“It is our privilege to have Gen. McChrystal as the 2016 NGA Show keynote speaker,” said NGA President and CEO Peter J. Larkin. “Known for his innovative leadership and team-building strategies, Gen. McChrystal will provide NGA Show attendees with insights and solutions to address the many challenges leaders face in an increasingly changing business environment.”

For years, The NGA Show has been the place where independents gather, connecting grocery retailers and wholesalers, food manufacturers and service providers from around the world to share innovative solutions and best practices that support and strengthen the independent supermarket channel.
