Specialty grocer Earth Fare opened its 38th location Wednesday, at 3045 SW 34th Street, Suite 30, just south of Archer Road, in Gainesville, Florida. It is the North Carolina-based company’s first Gainesville store, though it operates in Jacksonville and Tallahassee.
Earth Fare says that all products offered in the full-service 23,000-s.f. store adhere to a rigorous set of food quality standards, which ensures that items are free of trans-fats, artificial dyes, preservatives and sweeteners; and that fresh meat and dairy products also are free of added hormones and antibiotics. Additionally, all fresh-baked breads are free of bleached and bromated flour.
“We believe that healthy food improves lives, and we want to make it easy for our customers to make the best choices for themselves and their families,” said Earth Fare President and CEO Frank Scorpiniti. “The high quality of our assortment, combined with our breadth of selection, makes Earth Fare the ideal destination for customers seeking healthier options.”
The Gainesville store’s grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and comments from Earth Fare officials and the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony, which was attended by VIP guests like Miss Florida Gator, also included a check presentation to University of Florida’s Field to Fork Food Program, a new initiative that serves the estimated 10 percent of UF students who face food insecurity.
