Vermont Farm Is Big Winner At Summer Fancy Food Show, And More…

Raspberry Rhubarb Goat Milk Caramels from Fat Toad Farm in Vermont is the winner of the sofi Award for outstanding new product of 2015. The confection is one of 33 winners in the annual competition that honors excellence across all specialty food categories, from appetizers to pastas to vinegar. The winners were announced June 29 at a red-carpet awards ceremony at the 61st Summer Fancy Food Show in New York. A sofi is considered the top accolade in the $109 billion specialty food industry. “sofi” stands for “specialty outstanding food innovation.” This year’s winners were selected from 2,715 entries across 32 awards categories. According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend an average of $71.23 per household on food for July 4. This is an increase of $68.16 from last year. Total food item spending for the holiday is estimated to reach $6.6 billion…
