Frieda’s Specialty Lemon Bags for 1 lb. Seedless Lemons and Meyer Lemons were selected as a finalist in the 2013 PMA Impact Award, which recognizes excellence in packaging, in September. The bags are among 30 finalists selected from a total of 86 entries this year.

The PMA Impact Award recognizes trendsetters that create and deliver bold new concepts for produce and floral packaging. Points are awarded for excellence in marketing, sustainability, consumer convenience, food safety and supply chain efficiency/functionality.

“It is an honor to be among the PMA Impact Award finalists,” said Karen Caplan, Frieda’s president and CEO. “As these bags were designed with valuable input from our retail partners, being in the running for this year’s award is a testament to the spirit of collaboration.”

Frieda’s Specialty Lemon Bags were introduced in Spring 2013. They feature a bright yellow, green and purple color palette, graphics and a large clear panel so consumers can see the fruit inside. The flat-bottom design keeps the bags upright for merchandising on citrus tables. The bags have handles and how-to instructions and recipe recommendations.

The winner will be announced Oct. 18, during the Friday Brunch General Session at the PMA Fresh Summit in New Orleans.

Frieda’s will exhibit at the PMA Fresh Summit, booth 3039.
