FoodLink Expands Online Network with United Supermarkets

Texas-based United Supermarkets has selected buying platform FoodLink® as the primary system for sourcing and purchasing all fresh produce across more than 50 stores.

“United Supermarkets is a fantastic addition to the FoodLink network,” said Eric Peters, CEO, FoodLink Online.

FoodLink is a buying platform that connects all of the participants in the fragmented perishable goods supply chain. The network consists of more than 2,000 retail grocers and their fresh food suppliers, including carriers and third-party brokers and wholesalers. The network allows retailers to manage fresh food at competitive prices while reducing waste and inefficiencies across the supply chain; for suppliers, FoodLink simplifies managing orders, tracking shipments, responding to change requests and receiving payment.

“FoodLink will provide us with the real-time data that we need to improve our buying. Their network connects us with our suppliers and carriers to help us make the best buying decisions and improve our supply chain efficiency,” said Tommy Wilkins, director of produce procurement, United Supermarkets.
