Last updated on June 13th, 2024 at 12:03 pm

Dr. Terril Nell, professor and chairman of University of Florida’s Environmental Horticulture Department was named the 2011 Floral Marketer of the Year on Oct. 14 by PMA at Fresh Summit.

This year marks the 31st anniversary of the award, which recognizes an outstanding floral professional who has served the mass-market floral industry with dedication and distinction.

Nell was presented the award by 2010 award winner Bill Byland, business manager of Micky’s Minis Flora Express.

Nell also was recognized for helping key suppliers with problem solving quality issues and handling procedures while never losing sight of the realities industry members work with each day. He effectively pioneered research work in the area of post-harvest physiology and educated all participants within the supply chain, which has been a key component in helping the industry meet and exceed the experience of the consumer.
