Lakeland, Fla., based Publix’s sales for the second quarter of 2011 were $6.6 billion, a 5.8 percent increase from last year’s $6.2 billion.
Comparable-store sales for the second quarter of 2011 increased 4.2 percent. Net earnings for the second quarter of 2011 were $382.4 million, compared to $348.4 million in 2010, an increase of 9.7 percent.
Comparable-store sales for the first half of 2011 increased 3.5 percent. Net earnings for the first half of 2011 were $780.5 million, compared to $712.8 million in 2010, an increase of 9.5 percent.
These amounts are based on unaudited reports released Aug. 1 that will be filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
